Ahh, Family

I just LOVE family time!
I really [really] do!

Of course family can get annoying, intrusive, bossy, & nosy-
and when these things start happening, you can't wait to get away!

BUT, during the other times....the good times [usually at the first of your arrival]
it's really great! Also, not to brag- but my family IS pretty great :)

OH, and our family time usually involves a lot of this:

who doesn't love family time?!
[even though you gain 7lbs per fam visit]

They're Finally Here! [L&N]

So, I know I'm late and many of you probably already heard [facebook, duh].... BUT, Liam and Nolan have finally graced us with their presence! Forgive me for pointing out the obvious, but I just love saying it: I am now an Aunt, along with Suellen- my parents are now grandparents - and Rachel is now a Mother! We all are simply IN LOVE with our new titles! They were born on July 25th.  Liam was born at 5:28pm and Nolan at 5:55pm.  Liam Thompson Cummings was 5lbs 8oz and 18in long.  Nolan Galloway Cummings was 5lbs 15oz and 19in long.  They are simply perfect.  I'm sure everyone says that about their brand new nephew(s) - but I MEAN it, and that IS legit.  They are so tiny, adorable, and hilarious.  I drove home to be with the family when Rachel went into labor- but the very next day I had to drive back to Auburn to finish school and take my finals.  That.was.hard! Now, I'm back at home for just a little while- and I'm loving every minute with these two little men! Liam is such an old man.  I think he's going to be the wise, practical, and responsible older brother.  Nolan does what he wants.  He gets fussy when he's hungry and expects to eat pronto- but after 1 minute of eating he passes out. [I mean, we all know that being fed can be so tiring!] Nolan makes the funniest faces while Liam is usually scrunching his eyebrows, as if he is contemplating this whole 'being out in the world' thing.  It's so funny [and amazing] how at such a young age-not even 2wks old- babies start having their own personalities! I just love love LOVE them. I hope this didn't bore you too much ...... b/c it's definitely not the last time you'll hear about them :)

This.Is.Domino

In a nutshell.

Seriously.
If the slightest wind is blowing, he's facing the opposite direction.
The wind blowing his shaggy (err..nappy?) hair is his ABSOLUTE fav!
My sister Rachel bent down to take this picture and in .5 seconds he struck a pose...
so, now I have a new picture to look at on a bad day.

Rachel's BaByQ

This past weekend was Rachel's baby shower. Our friends Ashley and Michelle helped me throw her one.  We made it more of a party/celebration - rather than your traditional baby shower.  It was a BBQ with tons of friends, family, good food, and cold beer! See, not so much your traditional shower.  There was a very good turn out- we were all so excited! It was so SO so much fun :)

Also, we had a diaper raffle.  For every pack of diapers someone brought they got a raffle ticket to win a prize.  The prize ended up being a $25 gift card to Chilis (I LOVE Chilis!). I slipped in the 'notice' about the diaper raffle in the envelope with the invitations.

OH, you want to see the invites?  Well sure, I guess I could show you them...
[cough cough........ I made them........cough cough]

Then, I might have started running out of paper....then ribbon...
..but I STILL made it work! I ended up LOVING them all!
(even if it took 3 days and made my hand cramp up like a pretzel)

You can't have fabulous invites without cute envelopes to go with them......

Man, I can't believe you wanted to see that many pictures of my invites :)

OH, and I would say the Diaper Raffle was a success!
What do you think?

Man I can't wait until those babies are here!!

A Cupcake Story

A couple of adorable little girls [Ayda & Kinley] were coming to see me. Well, not exactly me.  They're my cousin, Danielle's, little girls. Her family (the 2 little ladies plus her husband) came down for a beach vacation and to see our family.  Anyway, I like to think that they came strictly to see ME - because they are two of my favorite little girls in the whole world! They got to the beach a couple days before Easter weekend.  I couldn't leave from school until Friday. I wanted to do something special for little Ayda and Kinley. So, I decided to make cupcakes.  I stayed up all night making the coolest cupcakes! They couldn't be just basic cupcakes with basic icing - too boring, and not special enough for Ayda and Kinley.

I tie dyed the cake batter with pastel Easter colors [which was A PROCESS]. Then I split the icing up in multiple bowls and dyed it in Easter colors as well. THEN, I decorated each individual cupcake.  I even made custom cupcakes for Ayda and Kinley with their initial on them. I was SO excited. I just knew they would be a big hit!

So, the sun eventually comes up and it's Friday.  After a day of running around, doing errands, and taking a Global Sourcing exam (YES, I studied the night before....in between baking, dying, and decorating) - it was finally time to go.  I packed up the car- placed the cupcakes (which were in a perfect cupcake caddy) in the car - grabbed domino - and hit the road.  First stop, gas station. I spent a whole 7 minutes putting the most expensive gas ever in my car (don't even get me STARTED on how much it cost me to fill up that day). Well, of course everyone knows how dangerous it is to keep the car running while pumping gas - I suppose that's true. Therefore, I made the worst mistake ever: I turned off my car, which in turn, turns off the A.C. [Remember: this is Alabama weather we're talking about]

By now, you probably know where I'm going with this......

So, let's just let the pictures tell the rest of the story:

Gas Station / 7 minutes / Alabama Sun....

At least I THINK they still enjoyed them....

What do you think?

Ahhh, life.
