It's baby John's birthday week! His big day is Thursday, August 1st. Holy cow, in just a few days I won't be able to call him BABY John anymore. It'll be ....
TODDLER John. Well, maybe not toddler John... that doesn't really flow well. Little John? Nope, that name's taken. Anyway, who cares (we'll figure that out later). Right now we're too busy celebrating BIRTHDAY WEEK!
Yes, I'm so freaked out that my baby is about to be a year..that I'm creating a whole week of fun to keep my mind off of it. Oh and of course, the week of fun is for toddler John too.
We started this fun week off with funfetti pancakes. --Notice that play on words. I didn't even mean to do that..but now that I've noticed it, the dork in me finds it fitting.--
This was John's first funfetti experience, his first sprinkles, his first candle, and his first time eating on a grown-up plate. I guess he was confused, because he reluctantly started eating it... like a dog.
He did finally figure out that using his hands would be more efficient. And they were a delicious success!
I can't believe my little John Frederick is about to be one. I'm so stinkin' excited for whats to come: running around with his cousins, throwing a baseball, FINALLY saying the word "mama", and all the excitement a toddler brings. Yet, of course, at the same time I could sob all day for what's behind us: the tiny bundle that constantly fell asleep on my chest, his gummy toothless smiles, the baby smell...ugh, all of it. I'll miss every second of him being a baby. I have to stop. I can't cry on funfetti Monday. We'll save the crying for when he's a toddler. For now, he's still my baby...my baby that's about to have the greatest birthday week everrr!
